A Short Story
In early 2015, I started to write "The Futurist," a column for The Daily of the University of Washington looking at the future of humanity. I also read plenty of books on related topics, including "Bold" by Peter Diamandis, "The Better Angels of Our Nature" by Steven Pinker, and Ashley Vance's biography of Elon Musk.

I quickly realized that we are living at a unique time in human history where individuals can gain leverage using tools to get maximum impact. I decided to do the Entrepreneurship minor at the Foster School of Business at UW, and started a company called DubsCup. Further reading connected me back to my two childhood passions: car design and astronomy.

My decision to study design at UW is the result of my realization that I want to use my childhood and current passions to be involved in the future of our species in a big way.

Marginalia

Some things I really enjoy are playing bass, writing music, writing poetry, hiking, futurology, politics, good food, astronomy, photography and great coversation about all of these things.

You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it: I never saved anything for the swim back.
